Whether you are a regular client of MP Massage Therapy, or are booking a treatment for the first time, it’s important to know how to get the most out of your massage! If you are unsure what to expect from your massage, check out my FAQ’s blog, this should give you some helpful answers! Massage is a really personal thing and it’s so important to feel comfortable throughout your treatment. Here are my top 5 tips to think about which will help you get the most from your massage!
- Communication
- What’s your goal?
- Breathe
- Your schedule
- Your comfort
Communication
Arguably the most important way to get the most out of your massage. Communication between me and you is key. For massages designed to target range of motion, communication allows me to understand your movements and map tightness. Never be afraid to speak up, it’s your time and communicating your feelings will enhance your massage 10 times over.

What’s your goal?
Make your goals clear, what do you want to get from the massage? What is causing you strain and pain? What is the reason for you booking your massage? The more I know about your body, the more tailored I can make your massage.

Breathe
This sounds obvious, but isn’t! Our natural instinct with pain is to hold our breath until it passes. Please don’t do this!!!! To get the best experience take long deep breaths, this will not only relax your mind, but your body also. Breathing deeply relaxes our muscles and tissues and allows me to work out your tightness.

Your Schedule
When you book your massage, plan it around your schedule. You will get the most from your massage if you are relaxed from the start and have time at the end to absorb. If you have a crazy day running around, give yourself 30 minutes before your massage to sit down and breathe. If we start your treatment whilst your body is still on go mode, you won’t absorb the benefits so well. Likewise, after the massage don’t make plans. I love working mobile so that I can come to your home and give you that time out. Post massage, allow yourself time to absorb and rehydrate before getting back in to the business of life.

Your Comfort
All of my massage appointments are mobile, this means you can have your massage in your perfect setting. Lighting, heat, music, smell – this is completely your choice. What helps you relax the most? For some it’s dimmed lighting and silence, for others it’s music or a scent. Create an environment that will help you to enjoy your massage.

I offer all my treatments mobile, I find massage in your own home is truly the best way to absorb the benefits. I always arrive early and have everything I need to give you the most tailored massage. For your next massage, follow these top 5 tips and see how you feel!
