The Bcyclet Inferno Race ‘is above all an extraordinary adventure’ – A French 2 day endurance road cycling event, that really was pretty incredible to be part of!

This years route started in Annecy and finished on the south coast in Menton. It was an epic few days of beautiful scenery, crazy hot weather & some seriously strong riders.

Day 1 | Friday 11th August 2023

Day one was an early start.. Breakfast at Le Bon Wagon in Annecy for 4AM and a roll out into the darkness. Stage one of the race took the riders over some really iconic climbs – Col de Tamie, Col de la Madeline, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier & the Col d’Izoard. One of these climbs alone would be a big day out, but to cover them all with a total stage 1 distance of 255KM & 6000M is a serious effort. The riders reached Guillestre, the end of Stage 1 destination, by Friday evening and to say they were ready for a massage is an understatement! There were a lot of tired legs, many of which had been seriously cramping throughout the day.

I used Arnica Oil and Sports Massage techniques to soothe the muscles, reduce the inflammation and help to increase fresh blood flow into the legs.

A few hours sleep later, and it was time for Stage 2…

Stage 2 | Saturday 12th August 2023

Time for Day 2.. Another 4AM breakfast and roll out from Guillestre. Stage two’s route took the riders over Col de Vars, Cime de la Bonette, Col Saint Martin & Col de Turini before dropping down to the coast and finishing in Menton, A total of 232KM & 5600M. Needless to say, a massage was a very welcome sight for them at the finish line!

The next climb is the Col de la Ramaz, this climb is a biggy but takes the riders into the villages of Sommand and Praz de Lys which are so beautiful.
