There’s a crisp buzz in the air, Morzine has just been covered by a fresh blanket of snow, and early season excitement is officially ON! With way more snow arriving than many expected, the mountain is waking up in style. Keen skiers arriving soon have plenty to cheer about!
A Welcome Early Dump
Morzine has had several decent snowfalls over the past few days. While just a few days worth may not sound like a full mid-winter dump, for this time of year it’s a strong signal: things are cooling down, and snow cover is building nicely.
This early accumulation gives the resort teams a crucial opportunity to prep the slopes, make the base, and potentially push for a pre-season opening in some sectors. EEK!!
Could the Lifts Open Early?
Here’s where things get even more exciting. While the official continuous ski lift opening for Morzine is slated for December 20, 2025, there’s already chatter around the possibility of a partial pre-opening from November 29th & 30th if snow conditions permit.
This isn’t just wishful thinking – it aligns with past patterns and some optimism from local media. Whilst neither Morzine, Les Gets or Avoriaz has yet confirmed a guaranteed early lift opening for this season, the precedent is there and with current snowfalls, the conditions could tip in favour.
Why This Matters and Why You Should Be Excited
- Early Access = Fresh Turns
If a partial lift opening goes ahead soon, early arrivals could be among the first to carve fresh corduroy or even find untracked pockets. It’s a serious leg-warmer and morale-booster. - Quieter Slopes
Pre-season skiing tends to draw fewer crowds. That means more space, less lift queue, and a more peaceful, almost “local vibe” feel on the mountain. - Ideal for Boots-on Snow-Testing
Gear rental and demo shops often have their full range available early in the season. It’s the perfect moment to dial in your setup before the peak rush hits. - Wildlife & Alpine Beauty
With a lighter crowd and fresh snow, the mountain’s character comes alive: sparkling frosted pines, soft morning light and that magical alpine hush.

See you on the slopes 🎿.
